FDI Into Dublin Rebounds in Final Quarter of 2023

Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) into the Dublin economy increased markedly in Q4 2023

The value of investments, which are either new investments in the Dublin economy or expansions by firms already located in the Capital, reached $1.252 billion (SA) in the quarter. This represented a more than fourfold (324%) rebound from a weak third quarter in which just $295 million was invested. The Q4 total equated to over $1,088 per head of Capita (SA) which was also the strongest of the cities analysed.

Despite the positive QoQ movement, the total invested in Dublin was down by 27.9% or $485 million YoY as the global investment market remained challenged.

The number of FDI projects rose by three both QoQ and YoY to 26 (SA) in the quarter, while the number of new FDI-related jobs also expanded. Almost 2000 new jobs (SA) were created, reflecting growth of 33.2% QoQ. This was down by 13.5% YoY and ranked third behind London (3,598 jobs) and Madrid (2,658) in the quarter.
